sorry for the lack of art.
i know i'm gonna get butchered for those hands and arms. and for those crappy-ass background colors. D: jackie (c) *Xphringe Comments
I think that the colors all flow, yes they do take away from his his face, but with the dark shirt the colors on that tattoo are framed. But at the same time you look at his face due to your style, and the crisper lines, your eye just gets pulled down rather quickly, and then back up before you get a chance to look at the whole thing. And I've always liked that in art work.
It's adorable btw. <3 -- David Hayter (Snake-Metal Gear: My tear ducks are now connected to my nipple. aww very cool! I like you art style so much^^

........ WHY would anyone butcher you about the arms and hands? I think those are just about my favorite aspects to this piece. They're gorgeous, non-stationary and yeah, I am of course a big fan of the black nail polish and Jackie's utterly gorgeous, colorful tats. That bird is pretty damn cute, but it doesn't have sheeeiiiit on your boy. Seriously, that face. I want to like, smush his cheeks and give him a big kiss. That expression is just...endearing, charming, and innocently sexy. I don't recall, what ethnicity is he again? He's so pretty. I...I kind of want to pair him with Sean now for some reason. >_>........ -- I'm on Team: Vampires Don't Sparkle, bitches. |

Originality: I scored this low for two reasons. The primary one is that I have seen you do so much more unique, interesting pieces. This definitely looks closer to a doodle than a piece for you, at least in content. It sports a very typical portrait-style composition, with a solid colored background and fairly simple pose. The cropping is slightly interesting, but not enough to make this piece memorable for me. The color is also slightly interesting, but only because it is not terribly common on DA, not because you've done anything terrible interesting with it. While I love this character's design and think he is very creative, I don't think this piece in and of itself bears anything terribly creative.
Technique: The Technique is beautiful. The colors are very much in unison, and as I expressed in the vision part, there is a definite mood and appeal to the piece. The flow of the brush strokes creates texture and interest, but also a flow and mellow mood. Your anatomy is always fairly good, and the facial expression is believable, as is the bird. The stylistic portions of the design certainly succeed as well. I have only given 4 stars, however, because I feel the whole body looks pressed in and pulled down; in other words, he feels too long and too skinny. It breaks past the stylistic part and into poor technique, in my opinion.
Impact: Again, you get points for this making me smile and feel at ease. I definitely stopped to look at the piece longer, and I think the character design you have going always creates a bit of an impact on the viewer. The color is interesting too, and the piece in general is eye-catching/. However, like Vision, there is little real meaning to this piece, and without a wowing background or story or other sort of detail to really leave the viewer thinking, this image just isn't very impacting. I imagine it will quickly fade from the majority of viewers' minds. Still, it's good to see work from you, and there is definitely improvement in your work.
the heart on his chest is a little hard to read. i'm not quite sure what it is but i don't think that's a bad thing. the tattooos around the arm look nice. i noticed that all your drawings really consentrate on the face, which is cool because you're fantastic at it. i like the body in this picture for the tilt of the shoulders and the skinniness. it looks fantastic.
another wonderful piece.
